Engineered lumber

Engineered lumber refers to lumber that is manufactured from sheets or strips of wood fibers combined with adhesive resins. The use of engineered lumber offers many environmental and structural advantages over dimensional lumber:

  • It is always straight and true

  • It is free of knots

  • It doesn't shrink, split, or twist

  • It allows for the use of very fast growing tree species like yellow poplar

  • It utilizes up to 80% of the tree as opposed to 50% for dimensional lumber
